Certified trainer for Safe Zone Ally Program workshops.  Working to create faculty and staff allies to provide a network of safe and supportive campus spaces to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities.

Initiated the start of student-run campus activist group focusing on issues and discussions of oppressed groups; worked with another faculty member to organize and maintain recognized student organization; facilitated weekly group meetings, leading a team of undergraduate students to create and promote group activities within the campus environment; directed students to integrate with local community organizations that work to promote recognition of marginalized groups’ needs and issues.  Group-sponsored events have included:  Condoms & Candy distribution events, National Coming Out Day, World AIDS Day, Take Back the Night, No H8 Campaign, The Vagina Monologues, I AM…DRAG Show.

Annual conference sponsored by the university’s Women’s Studies and Black World Studies Programs.  Responsibilities included distribution of the conference call for papers, organizing submissions; creating program timetable and panel arrangements; corresponding with presenters; arranging housing and transportation for 65 participants; worked with university personnel to coordinate location and set-up, audio-visual equipment, all meals; compiled and designed symposium program, flyers and posters for distribution.
